PADI Tec 45 Diver
You've taken the PADI Tec 40 challenge and conquered it. You've now joined the ranks of those who go beyond and this is exactly where the PADI Tec 45 journey will take you. For the first time you will breach the 40 metre mark and go deeper than the recreational limits allow, your old blue PADI dive table is very confused at this point.
During this course you will be tested on old and new skills, you will pick up from exactly where you left off during the PADI Tec 40 course and refine your skills to near perfection. By the end of this course your gas shutdown drill will be faster than you could ever imagine and your control over your stage cylinder will be admirable.
If you loved the PADI Tec 40 course then we strongly urge you to take on the PADI Tec 45 challenge. You will not regret it.

Day 1 - Introduction and Theory: You will be given a print out with questions that will be based on the materials you received during the PADI Tec 40 course (link). These question will then need to be answered at your own time and brought with the next time you meet your Instructor.
Day 2 - Theory and Skill Development: Once you have completed the theory you will come to our Simon's Town facility just outside Cape Town. You will meet with your instructor in the morning and thereafter you will do a dive with all technical equipment in the pool or at a shallow dive spot.
Day 3 - Skill Development: This is a very intensive day as you will be doing 2 dives. The first dive will be to a depth of 18 metres and the next one to a depth of 30 metres. Both dives will be filled with skills.
Day 4 - Assessment: The final day of diving will be done as a boat dive to a dive site that has a depth between 40 and 45 metres. During this dive you will demonstrate why you can proudly call yourself a PADI Tec 45 Diver!
The PADI Tec 45 course uses the same materials as the PADI Tec 40 and Tec 50 courses. Just like before you will have a print out that stipulates why being a PADI Tec 45 diver comes with more responsibility.
The theory segment of this course expands on topics like dive planning, decompression theory, safety procedures and much more.
As with any PADI Technical diving course, there is an exam. The exam is based on the theory you covered in your print out. You will be required to achieve a minimum mark of 75% to successfully pass the theory portion of the PADI Tec 45 course.
Technical diving skill development is done on the run. Your skills are introduced in a calm environment such as a pool or shallow water dive site. Thereafter you are required to demonstrate mastery during the other 2 dives before going on to your final dive.
We put large emphasis on you getting the skills right, and above this we try put you in a situation where you are loaded with many tasks that require you to split your attention between all of them. Technical diving is very much a mind game, and we do our best to teach you to think through everything you do.
By the end of your skill development you should have an exact understanding of what you are capable of.
On your final PADI Tec 45 dive you will be going to between 40 and 45 metres. This dive will be filled with adventure as you will be breaking your previous limits. With this excitement also comes a few obstacles that you will need to tackle on the fly. You will need to demonstrate absolute focus under the pressure and come out of the dive as a safe and confident PADI Tec 45 Diver.
